DESCRIPTION:Deadline Extended\nSubmissions Now Due By\nSunday\, March 1st at Midnight\nCelebrating the Art of Handcrafted Prints\n\nArt Intersection presents Light Sensitive\, our tenth-annual\, international juried exhibition of images created using traditional darkroom\, historical\, and alternative photographic processes and methods. \nIn the current takeover of imagery presented on computer screens and the overwhelming volume of digitally printed pictures\, the purpose of our Light Sensitive exhibition is to celebrate\, promote\, and reaffirm the art of handcrafted prints that uniquely belong to the tradition of light sensitive creative processes. Each year we are in search for work that represents creativity\, passion\, and displays the beauty of these light sensitive processes. \n\nAcceptable Processes\n\nProcess include\, and are not limited to\, the following: silver gelatin prints\, albumen\, anthotype\, argyrotype\, athenatype\, Bayard direct positive\, calotype\, carbon\, casein\, chrysotype\, cyanotype\, dusting-on process\, gum bichromate\, gumoil\, Herschel’s breath printing\, photopolymer gravure\, Ivorytype\, kallitype\, mordançage\, platinum/palladium\, printing-out-paper\, solarplate intaglio\, van dyke brown\, wet plate collodion\, whey process\, Ziatype\, combinations of any of these processes\, and all photographically based image-making techniques that incorporate traditional studio-based mediums such as printmaking\, ceramics\, or painting.  \nBoth 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional work may be submitted. Conventional\, unmodified digital inkjet prints are not acceptable for entry; however\, the use of digital negatives\, created for printing any of the above processes is acceptable. \n\nAbout the Juror\n\nBrett Abbott serves as the Director of Collections and Exhibitions at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth\, where he provides leadership for the museum’s curatorial\, conservation\, registration\, archives\, exhibition\, and publication programs.  A specialist in American photography of the 20th and 21st centuries\, he has organized more than thirty exhibitions and contributed to more than a dozen publications in the field.  He came to the Carter having served in curatorial roles at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta and the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles. \nHis honors include the 2012 Ansel Adams Fellowship from the Center for Creative Photography for his research on Wynn Bullock\, the 2010 Lucie Award for Curator of the Year for the exhibition Engaged Observers: Documentary Photography since the Sixties and the 2007 Lucie Award for Curator of the Year for his work on Edward Weston.  Abbott is a graduate of the Getty Leadership Institute’s Executive Education Program for Museum Leaders.  He earned his Master of Arts from Williams College and his Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University. \n \n\nImportant 2020 Dates\nMarch 1 – Submissions close at midnight Arizona\, MT (UTC-7)\nMarch 7 – Email notification of work selected for exhibition\nApril 8 – Selected work due at Art Intersection ready to hang/install\nApril 25 – June 6 – Exhibition\nApril 25 – Artist Reception\, 5 – 8pm\nJune 11 –  June 18 – Pick up work\nJune 18 – Work begins shipping back using prepaid shipping labels \n\nYou can view images from last year’s Light Sensitive by clicking here.
