Metal Repair Tape Journal
|
|
| |
 |
|
July 13, 7-9:30pm
$30 + $8 materials fee
The first question everyone asks is, “What is metal repair tape”? Unless you are a hardware store junkie or repair air ducts, there is no reason for you to know that such a thing exists. The intended use is for repairing air conditioner ducts. But in the hands of savvy crafters it turns into a pliable metal that can be textured and distressed to look like aged steel. In this workshop you will learn how to manipulate the tape using texturing tools, sand paper, and permanent ink. We will also discuss what designs work best, different ways to make the designs and which materials work best for the relief plus the many different applications and projects that can be made using this technique.

July 27, 7-9pm
$30 + $5 materials fee
We live in a digital age where sending a card takes seconds. The thoughtfulness of a handcrafted card has been replaced by e-cards and mass-produced (and expensive!) greeting cards. A handwritten note, an invitation, or a “just because I am thinking of you” card is a pleasant distraction from the endless stream of junk mail that winds up in the trash. In this workshop you will see how simple it is to make personalized cards and envelopes. We will discuss different stamping techniques, how to use decorative punches, and how to use a scoreboard to make cards and accompanying envelopes. We will also discuss how to up-cycle old books, magazines, and found papers into something someone will treasure. Join us and go home with several of your own custom cards.

August 10, 7-9pm
$30 + $10 materials fee
I don't know about you, but as a kid I couldn't stop staring through the oven door as the paper- thin plastic shapes morphed into a Shrinky Dink. It was mesmerizing and still is. Now I get to play unsupervised. Shrink plastic hasn't changed much over the years. It's what you do with it that has. They also have shrink plastic for ink jet printers. That opens up a whole new world of possibilities.
